California Biodiversity Day 2025
Celebrate the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve's amazing biodiversity on California Biodiversity Day during our free, first Saturday of the month Wetland Tour on September 6. You will be provided with a trail map and list of species to look for. Tour begins at 9 AM at the south parking lot at the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve. Enter your findings in the iNaturalist Bolsa Chica Project page. You can also go out on your own and record species using iNaturalist anytime between Sept. 6-14.

2025-26 Nest Site Restoration - Registration is open
Registration is OPEN and REQUIRED by the CA Department of Fish & Wildlife Nest site habitat restoration projects take place the third Saturdays of the month 8:30-11:30 AM. Nest site habitat restoration involves removal of invasive and overgrown plants in areas of the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve that are off limits to the public.

California Coastal Cleanup Day 2025
Please join the Amigos de Bolsa Chica on Saturday, September 20, 9AM-11:30AM for Coastal Cleanup Day! On this extraordinary day, we come together as a community to clean our beaches, parks, and waterways. Meet at the south parking lot of the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve, Pacific Coast Highway halfway between Warner Ave. and Seapoint St, directly across PCH from the entrance to Bolsa Chica State Beach.

Volunteers Needed for Reserve Watch
Reserve Watch was designed to increase the awareness of the many facets of the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve with an emphasis on the importance of the Reserve’s rules and regulations. BCER has a rich history and huge ecological significance, and the regulations protect the wetlands so that we can all enjoy them. Our skilled volunteers help to convey this message to the surrounding community, while also being a resource for visitors looking to enhance their experience.

Full Tidal Basin Trash Removal Project
For the first time in over a decade, the Amigos de Bolsa Chica, with a generous grant from the Rose Foundation, conducted a trash removal project in the full tidal basin. Watch the documentary to see the results.
