October 2004 GROUND BREAKING FOR BOLSA CHICA RESTORATION officiated by Lt. Governor Cruz Bustamonte. Also in attendance: Cathy Green, HB Mayor; Rodney McInnis, NOAA; Lynn Scarlet, Assistant Secretary, Dept. of Interior; Steve Westly, State Controller; Mike Chrisman, Director, State Dept. of Resources; Col. Leonardo Flores, Dep. Commander, US Army Corps of Engineers and dozens of citizens from the community. After the ceremony, the Amigos hosted a luncheon attended by over 300 people who have been involved in the 4 decade struggle to preserve and restore the Bolsa Chica wetlands.
